Michael Ferguson, MD
Michael Ferguson, M.D., treats adolescents and adults of all ages. His experience as both a psychotherapist and prescribing physician enables him to clarify those situations in which the psychological problem would best respond to psychotherapy alone, or in combination with psychiatric medications. Dr. Ferguson frequently treats problems such as depression, anxiety, panic disorder, ADHD, substance abuse (including dual diagnosis), autistic spectrum and Asperger’s disorder. In his 25 years of experience, his mission remains creating a non-threatening setting to deliver psychiatric care that is friendly, compassionate, and of the highest quality.
Dr. Ferguson is board certified in psychiatry and neurology. He is board certified in addiction medicine by the American Society of Addiction Medicine and is suboxone certified. Dr. Ferguson is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the Southern California Psychiatric Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Society of Addiction Medicine. He has extensive expertise and experience in both outpatient and inpatient psychiatry practice. He has served a number of medical directorships, including with Ventura County Behavioral Health and with Humboldt County Behavioral Health. He has been the clinical director and served on the medical staff in a number of psychiatric hospitals, including clinical directorships in dual diagnosis and addiction services programs.
Dr. Ferguson earned his medical degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, School of Medicine, after graduating summa cum laude from Rice University and attending the Baylor College of Medicine.
