Michael Casillas, LCSW
Michael Casillas is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of clinical experience working with adolescents, adults, and families as a supportive advocate for building insight towards healing and growth. His multifaceted experience spans the spectrum of care including; jails, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, federally qualified health centers, and outpatient mental health/substance abuse treatment clinics. He has worked effectively alongside diverse populations with conditions ranging from mild adjustment disorders to severe and persistent mental illness.
His approach to treatment is centered within Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. He has additionally expanded his knowledge of other treatment modalities to best meet the individual needs of his clients. Michael has seen notable success working with adolescents and young adults struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, and bereavement. He places an emphasis on the importance of systems, such as family units or communities, to support long-lasting change. His goal as a treatment provider is to collaborate with his clients to build a solution-focused plan that is tailored to their needs and provides a path towards inner peace and resilience.
Michael is originally from the state of Arkansas and earned his master’s of social work from the University of Arkansas in 2009 and licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an LCSW in 2013. He is a long-standing member of the National Association of Social Workers, the California Society for Addiction Medicine, and is an advocate for social justice & public health issues that impact our community and region.
