Joan Sandberg, PhD
Psychology
Dr. Joan Sandberg works with children age 10+ and adults of all ages. She specializes in eating disorders, domestic discord, women’s issues, substance abuse, codependency, parenting, divorce/blended family issues, depression and anxiety. She incorporates aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic theory and Mind/Body awareness in her treatment approach.
In her nearly 30 years as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Sandberg has worked extensively with children and young adults who have been victims of sexual and/or physical abuse; in conducting treatment, serving as a courtroom expert and in supervising court ordered custody family treatment. She has a particular passion for treating young adults.
Dr. Sandberg earned her master’s degree in counseling psychology at California State University, San Bernardino and completed a doctoral program in clinical psychology at the Professional School of Psychological Studies in San Diego. She earned her bachelor’s degree at UC Riverside in Pre-Med and Zoology.
